Hiking and hand grenades

So last Sunday we took a hike to a tower on top of one of the surrounding hills. It was cool. We got to climb to the top and take in the view. In the second to last picture, from right, thats Kevin (from Kenya), Stephen (who came along after we met him at church in the morning), me, and Laura (from Chattannooga). You'll notice in one of the photos that mounted on the tower are a heart-shaped symbol and a double cross symbol. Stephen said that there is a number you can call and pay a few bucks to get them to light up at night. I think the idea is that it would be romantic. Also, the last picture is of a sign that apparently is meant to warn you of possible live ordnance (presumably from WWII) that could explode if you stray from the trail.
On Wednesday night I went to a Christus-Treff small group meeting with Laura, Amy, Bobby and Anna. It was in the home of a couple we had met on Sunday; Stefan and Juliette. This is the only small group meeting that is held in English, as Juliette is from Boston. There was also a couple there from South Carolina and a German couple. It was neat to gather in this small context. It seems as though gospel-hospitality is alive and well in Marburg!
I settled into a routine pretty well this week. I have language class from 9:00 to 12:30, go to the "Mensa" for lunch, then to history and culture class from 2:00 to 4:00 (or 2:00 to 5:00 on Tuesdays and Fridays), then do any necessary shopping, take the bus back home, wrangle up some dinner, do homework, and go to bed. I certainly did some other cool stuff, but that's the main framework. The week actually seemed to go by fairly quickly. Life is good and God is great.
